The dataset is derived from available open datasources at different levels of detail and coverage. These data sources include:
1) Digital cadastral maps of the Czech Republic (Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre, 01.10.2015
2) Land Parcel Identification System (Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, 01.05.2015
3) Urban Atlas(European Environmental Agency)
4) CORINE Land Cover 2006 (European Environmental Agency)
The order of the data sources is according to the level of detail and, therefore, the priority for data integration.
The data is open. The data is harmonized based on the European INSPIRE directive using the Hierarchical INSPIRE Land Use Classification System (HILUCS). Currently, the data covers the whole territory of the Czech Republic.
The data model is very simple in order to enable integration of any land use data. It includes the original landuse class (in general, data use different classification systems for landuse/landcover) andthe target class in the HILUCS. The model includes the references to original dataset together with a unique ID. The data model is flexible and can be extended based on user needs.
The resulting dataset is composed of global pan-European data combined, where available, with regional, more detailed data. In this way, we provide the most precise seamless landuse map.

SDI4Apps is an EU-funded project coordinated by the University of West Bohemia (Pilsen, CZ). It seeks to build a cloud-based framework with open APIs for data integration. The project is tested through 6 pilot applications. Open Land Use Map is one of them.
